Few things beat fresh mint for tea and cooking. Mint is vigorous and easy to grow — in fact, it grows so well that it is best kept in a pot of its own. Here is how.
Mint spreads quickly through runners. Growing it in a pot keeps it tidy and stops it taking over your garden.
Sow in spring or autumn; seeds germinate in 10–21 days. Mint is happy in full sun to partial shade.
Mint likes consistently moist soil — water whenever the surface starts to dry. It is one of the few herbs that tolerates a little extra moisture.
Snip sprigs as needed once the plant is established. Regular harvesting encourages fresh, tender growth.
