Geranium Mix Seeds bring together a cheerful blend of the classic bedding geranium (Pelargonium x hortorum), the type Egyptian gardeners know as الجيرانيوم. Expect rounded clusters of bloom in mixed shades sitting above soft, scalloped, faintly scented foliage. It is a tidy, free-flowering plant that looks at home in window boxes, terracotta pots and sunny borders, and it keeps performing right through the mild season.
In Egypt, sow from mid-August to November so seedlings flower through the cool winter and spring and escape the summer heat. Cover the small seed with only about 3 mm of growing mix. Germinate at 21-24C, with emergence in 7-10 days; light is not needed to sprout. Grow seedlings on at roughly 16-24C, and pot each one up once the first true leaves appear. Harden off for 7-10 days, then space plants 30-36 cm apart, or use 3-5 plants per 25-30 cm pot.
Work a balanced, low-nitrogen starter feed into the bed at planting. Through the season, feed container plants with a dilute water-soluble fertilizer every 2-4 weeks, and beds every 4-6 weeks.
Give full sun, at least 4 hours and ideally about 6 hours daily, with light afternoon shade where summers turn fierce. Plant in well-drained soil, water regularly but let it dry between waterings, and keep water off the leaves. Deadhead spent heads to extend flowering. Watch for aphids, caterpillars, spider mites and whiteflies, and reduce Botrytis and edema with good airflow and dry foliage.
