Marguerite Daisy Seeds 10g

The Marguerite Daisy (Argyranthemum frutescens), a tender perennial shrub of the Asteraceae family native to the Canary Islands, brings a soft, romantic charm to any garden. It forms a bushy mound roughly 0.5-1 m tall and wide, smothered through the season in white daisy-like flower heads up to about 2 cm across, each lit by a cheerful yellow centre. Loved for borders, cottage plantings and patio pots, it flowers most freely in cool, mild weather — making it a favourite ornamental for Egypt's gentle winter season.

Planting

Choose a full-sun spot with at least 6 hours of direct light, sheltered from harsh afternoon sun in hot areas. Use moderately fertile, well-drained soil (loam or sandy, pH around 6.0-7.5) enriched with organic matter. Start seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before transplanting. Surface-sow and barely cover, since light aids germination; keep evenly moist at around 21°C and seedlings emerge in roughly 8-14 days. Space plants 30-38 cm apart.

Fertilizing

Work compost or other organic matter into the soil at planting time. During active growth, feed with an all-purpose liquid fertilizer once or twice a month, following the label rate to support steady, healthy flowering.

Care

Keep soil evenly moist but never soggy; check 2-5 cm down and water when dry, more often for containers. Avoid overwatering and overhead watering to prevent root rot and fungal disease. Pinch growing tips for compactness, deadhead spent blooms, and shear lightly mid-season for more flowers. Watch for aphids, leaf miners, thrips, mites and whiteflies. Protect from frost — it tolerates only about 1-5°C.
