"Primo One" is a seeded selection of common Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon), the classic warm-season turf grown across Egyptian gardens. It is prized for its bright, fresh-green colour and fine, dense texture: a perennial creeping grass that spreads by rhizomes, stolons and seed to weave a low, hard-wearing carpet rather than a cut flower. Once established it is wonderfully drought-, heat- and traffic-tolerant, perfect for lawns, play areas and ornamental edging that stay lush through a hot Egyptian summer.
Sow in full sun (6 or more hours of direct light daily) into a firm, level seedbed. Rake the seed into only the top 0.3 cm of soil; a firm bed is essential, as sowing too deep can stop germination. Sow once soil is warm — mid-March to June is the prime window in Egypt, with a second chance in September–October. Germination begins around 20 °C and is fastest at 25–40 °C, usually within 7–10 days. Adjust pH to 5.8–6.5 and control crabgrass, goosegrass and sedges before and after seeding.
Do not feed until full spring green-up. Through the season apply nitrogen at about 0.25–0.5 kg N per 100 m² per application, split across early, mid and late summer for a seasonal total near 1–2 kg N per 100 m². Use the lower rate on clay soils and the higher on sandy soils. Avoid nitrogen in early autumn, as it worsens large patch disease.
Water deeply but infrequently — about 2–2.5 cm only when the lawn shows drought stress, not light daily sprinkling; ease off in winter dormancy. Mow at 2.5–5 cm, removing no more than one-third of the blade each time, and mow often to tame its vigorous stolons. Manage irrigation and autumn feeding to limit spring dead spot, large patch and dollar spot, and watch for mole crickets, white grubs and armyworms.
