Growing Flowers from Seed at Home | tna W rna

May 30, 2026 / By Anas Heaba / in Smart Farming & Technology

Growing flowers from seed is rewarding and far cheaper than buying plants. With a little patience you can fill your balcony or garden with colour. Here is how to start.

Best time to sow

For most annual flowers, sow in autumn (September–November) for a beautiful spring bloom. They germinate in 7–21 days.

Easy flowers for beginners

  • Marigold — tough, bright and pest-repelling.
  • Zinnia — fast, colourful and loves the sun.
  • Petunia — perfect for pots and hanging baskets.
  • Sunflower — dramatic and very easy.

Care tips

Most flowers need full sun and moderate, regular watering. Remove faded blooms (deadheading) to encourage more flowers.
