When to Plant: A Seasonal Sowing Guide for Egypt | tna W rna

May 30, 2026 / By Anas Heaba / in Smart Farming & Technology

Timing is everything in gardening. Planting at the right time of year is the single biggest factor in success. Here is a simple seasonal guide for Egypt’s climate.

Autumn (September–November)

The best all-round planting season. Sow tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, onions, spinach and most leafy greens. Mild weather means strong, healthy growth.

Winter (December–February)

Continue with cool-season crops like lettuce, spinach, radish, peas and broad beans. Protect tender seedlings on the coldest nights.

Spring (February–April)

A second main season. Sow tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, watermelon, melons, beans and warm-season herbs like basil.

Summer (May–August)

The hardest season due to heat. Stick to heat-lovers like okra and molokhia, water early in the morning, and provide afternoon shade for pots.

Year-round

Many herbs — mint, parsley, coriander — and fast crops like radish can be grown for most of the year with the right spot.
